WORKSHOP

Home Strange Home / Open doors

„Home Strange Home“ is a virtual survival lounge created by Eléonore Hayar, Vani Monjaraz and Selen Sönmez as part of the design studio „Inhabitating the Survival Lounge“ at the TU Berlin / Chair for History of Architecture and Urbanism.

Based on readings of Sara Ahmed’s book „Living a Feminist Life“ the students extracted concepts for a feminist inhabitation and applied them to a digital space.

The „Home Strange Home“ project offers an opportunity to explore the relations we have with our everyday objects, to rethink their meanings and their impacts on our lives through a feminist perspective.

It has been developed as a video game to allow interactive exchange between the space and the people, and give visitors the role of an actor rather than a visitor.

“Home Strange Home” will ony exist during the festival time. It aims to gather various traces of temporary inhabitation through voice notes, memories, pictures…

The event is proposed as an open doors where people can practice the house one last time all together and discuss the traces the „active visitors“ have left inside. This is the opportunity to share and discuss in real time with other temporary inhabitants about this experience and also to meet and question the designers.

As it will take place on site in the Bauhaus reuse Pavillon, you will have to send an email to homestrangehome2021@gmail.com in order to book your place. You probably will also need a negative corona-test to enter the building but otherwise the event is free !
